Turin is rich in splendid monuments and buildings such as Palazzo Madama, Piazza Castello and
Palazzo Reale ( the Royal Palace), Consolata, Valentino Castle, the Mole Antonelliana,
a symbol of Turin and its people, and the Duomo (Cathedral), which houses the Holy Shroud.
A few kilometres is located the Reggia di Venaria Reale (a famous royal residence in Venera,
just outside Turin), where the Savoy family would go to relax and to hunt.
It was built according to the will of Carlo Emanuele II in the second half of the seventeenth century.
The Superga Basilica, perched on top of the hill of the same name, is also not to be missed.
This is one of the highest points among the lush green Torinese hills which form a kind of amphitheatre over the city of Turin. The basilica is a destination for pilgrims from all over Italy.
